Transfer, research and networking – that was the motto of the iTUBS Transformittag on February 20, 2024. More than one hundred employees of the Technische Universität Braunschweig accepted the invitation of iTUBS to the Haus der Wissenschaft Braunschweig to experience a transformative morning together. After the introductory words by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Arno Kwade, Vice President for Technology Transfer and Innovation at TU Braunschweig, who emphasized the strategic importance of these topics for the university, the participants were given insights into the various ways of knowledge transfer both within iTUBS and through other internal university institutions.

In addition to the presentation of iTUBS by Managing Director Eduard Klein and the “in house” formats, such as the in-house conference management called HI!CONFERENCE and the innovation promotion HI!CHALLENGE, the Transformittag also offered space for the presentation of the Transfer and Cooperation House, the TransferHub and the Entrepreneurship Hub of TU Braunschweig and Ostfalia University. Attendees were also given impetus beyond Braunschweig: Volker Hofmann from Humboldt Innovation GmbH gave an overview of the status quo of transfer from Humboldt University – the Berlin counterpart to iTUBS.
The presentation of TU BS Singapore, the first international research presence of TU Braunschweig, was another highlight that attracted many interested visitors. Dr. Katja Knecht, Olaf Mumm, Dr. Mark Mennenga, Philipp Grimmel from ISU – Institute for Sustainable Urbanism gave valuable insights into the foundation, which took place in November 2023 via iTUBS. Further contributions came from Dr. Jan-Philipp Mai, who focused on his start-up JPM Silicon GmbH as a prime example of scientific spin-offs, and Claas Curland, whose company, Braunschweiger Zuführtechnik GmbH, sees itself as a partner of research and start-ups from the university environment.
The event concluded with a lively panel discussion, moderated by Eduard Klein, in which Prof. Dr. Peter Hecker, Vice President for Research and Academic Career Paths, Dr. Laura Jess, Transfer Strategy Coordinator, and Bernd Felski, Der Mittelstand BVMW, were welcomed to the stage. Afterwards, the joint lunch provided an excellent opportunity for intensive networking.
